Auto express Mugen S2000 review

I'm not even going to attempt to justifying the costs of the mods (as mine were fitted by Honda before I bought it), but there is a subtle difference in the torque characteristic's compared to standard. There is definitely more torque available lower down (around 4000 rpm) which, may not effect 0-62 times greatly, but does make it noticeable from 30-70 (obviously I never go over 70 ).
This works better for me because I don't tend to come across many boxster's/TT's/Z3's etc at a standstill at the traffic lights. Where I do tend to find them is on the move on A-roads/dual carriage ways/motorways, which means that extra torque comes in handy, because the 'S' picks up smoother and quicker.
This effect was noticeable on the midlands mini-meet, when we were dragging down the dual carriage way towards Kenilworth (I think Edd and Sam, can back me up here ). I was pulling away from them, and still had more power and rev band to go.
As has been stated many times before, the engine's on these car's are running at a pretty high level of tuning as standard, so to extract anymore noticeable BHP your going to have start shelling out serious wedge on superchargers etc. The only problem with these mods is that there is a good chance Honda won't pay for bits gone wrong on the engine, on the warranty.
Anyway to summarize, I think the Mugen kit is ideal for me and i does'nt effect my insurance or remaining warranty! Also the exhaust sound's awesome, low burble @ low revs and raving banshee scream in Vtec!

I don't know the cost of the individual parts, as I bought the car with parts fitted, from the Dealer (Tachbrook Honda in Solihull). Try giving them a ring on 0121 782 2422, and they should be able to give you some prices etc.

Well...the 4k premium, as you`ve pointed out isn`t that bad. Its only 500 or so to fit, that includes warranty.
We do have to remember though, Honda won`t pay that. So they effectively profit from the car, then profit from the accesories.
I still dispute the whole `Mugen S2000` badge. It should be deemed S2000 with aftermarket addons. Could we call a S with a through HKS system, an HKS S2000? We could I suppose....but then we`d be stupid.

I think I'd keep the 4K and be just that little bit slower, myself. It does seem to steep to me. I would rather spend 2k on safe mods, ECU, AEM intake and a few braces. Then put the rest aside just in case.

Oh, I forgot to mention, has anyone bought one of them new Zaino S2000`s? If I ever sell mine, thats what I`ll call it. Well, its been Zaino`d, so why not?
