Aus, If ya mean down by the grill you can't/wouldn't see anything ...the coastal metals grill hides it.

Hi,
I had mine for the last couple of months but wanted to wait till the rainy season is over here in California. I installed it last weekend and I like it a lot! Just as Cedric and Jimmy said in this thread before, I can't believe how much it improved the throttle response. Thanks a lot, Wayne.
Couple of questions:
- I lost the original package with the felt pads and the template. I think I can find something to put there instead, but do you think this is a big deal? The hood definitely pressing and holding it tight and I may see some scratches on the finish in the future but I don't really care how it looks. Were those felts for squeaking noise?
- Do you think this is totally safe from the hydrolock condition that are talked about a lot for other CAI's? This car is for my daily commute and I will have to drive in pouring rain at times. I will certainly avoid puddles and etc. Are you concerned about this at all?

I'd definitely get some thin velcro (or similar pads). If only so when you post pictures it looks it's best.
Totally safe? In normal conditions, yes. You will get slightly more debris in the airbox, and in rainy weather, slightly more water, but the design of the stock airbox copes with this nicely. The first chamber is there to catch debris and water and drain off the water.
It is a fact that if you drive through deep puddles you will have water ingestion in shallower water than with a the stock set up (but not as shallow as the AEM style intake), but I'd strongly advise you not to drive through deep puddles. That's what SUV's are for.

I would imagine that Wayne has just got fed up of the various hassles he has had with his supplier/manufacturer of late - there were a number of quality control problems with the UK group buy which stemmed from the manufacturer not meeting the standards Wayne had agreed with them.
I guess he just decided it wasn't worth the trouble any more. Shame really - I've been very happy with my AIE and the headrests I bought.
