much underated car just bear in mind servicing costs and (due to aluminium construction) any body work damage will be VERY expensive... Only a few bodyshops in the UK are able to work on them.

Have always fancied one myself. Nice looking motor cars, both the old and current models.

I knew someone that used to run one as his main car, and he was forever complaining at the service/repair costs

I really like these but the serving costs would be a worry

When I had my S3, my Audi dealer always commented about the MASSIVE running costs of the A8.

I considered buying one, when I was looking at the S3, just because of the presence! It was only the 2.8, but motorpoint in Derby had brand new ones for

My brother had one for 8 months...fabulous car. Fully loaded, incredibly comfortable - understated, yet it had presence.

The biggest issue is the body, as stated above its a bitch to get right (but not impossible) but the servicing costs are in line with 7 series BMW's and S class Mercs and are not excessive.

I did look to buy one as a beater as a result of driving brother's for a while but my meager commute doesn't justify it.

How much are the servicing costs from a decent independant. Oil & filter changes etc. don't differ THAT much from car to car. It's usually the main dealers that whack up the rates. Don't forget this car will be 7/8 years old so well out of warranty etc.

Obviously extra items (tyres, brakes etc.) will be a bit more but no more than say a typical sports car???
