Guys were all missing the point here surely. Rough value of a GTE 1k, rough value of an S?

Dude must have been laughing-hope he blew his engine!

Anyone can buy a cheap reasonably quick car and mod it to hell to make it seriously quick or up to S2000 standards.

At the end of the day, you are going home in your stunning marvel of Japanese engineering and he is going home in his er......... H reg Astra GTE with an approximte value of a set of new Muz mats and with the prestige of a bowl of rice

AGW don't take it so hard, you would have murdered him round the twisty stuff. Also sounds like he had the momentum on you as well. Besides, it is not worth getting too frustrated as there will always be someone else out there with something quicker then you.

I remember when these came out in South Africa - you could have red, black, or yellow. They were *very* desirable when released. I've blown one of these away with ease, so either you encountered a modded version, or I encountered a slow one (could have been a silver repainted one ).

Or, you could follow a similar route, and buy a low mileage MY99-MY01, add a supercharger, and for 20-22k have a 335+ sleeper(ish*) motor.

* problem being that the S looks fast, simply parked up / .

I saw one being built at what was Blydenstein Engineering in Shepreth.

It was an Astra van shell, but the Subframes etc, were pure Cavalier/Calibra 4X4 Turbo!

That must've woken up a few people!
