Default Astra Gte 16v Wtf...?

I was on my way into work this morning, at a leisurely pace on the A38 when all of a sudden I see a H reg ASTRA GTE flying up my backside, I just thought silly fool and stayed in the fast lane doing about 80. Any way the traffic in front cleared and this guy was still stuck to my bumper, so I dropped into fourth to get rid of him. VTEC'd up to 125 looked in my mirror and he was still there stuck to my bumper. I decided not to play silly beggers and pulled over to let him past.

But an ASTRA GTE whats going on Do I have a slow S or was this car modified. Turbo or NOS maybe. The car looked standard from the outside, apart from a huge dinner plate exhaust.

Some one please console me, I am starting to loose the will to live

PLEASE NOTE ALL SPEEDS QUOTED ABOVE ARE IN KPH (Officer )

I had a MK2 Golf GTi 16V and the Astra was a little quicker....

...until some corners came up. then the Golf would whip its ass.
