Can you please clarify the best way to use snow foam?
I've been:
- rincing the car with water;
- spraying on the snow foam and leaving for 5 or six minutes;
- rincing the foam off;
- spraying the car a second time with snow foam;
- rincing a second time; and then
- washing with a mitt and bucket of car shampoo.
Should I use a mitt on the car when it's covered with the second coat spay of snow foam?
Also seen some people talking about mixing in some car shampoo with the snow foam solution. What do you recommend?
Many thanks
Nat

Nat, unless your car is reasonably clean and you have a good wax on it the snowfoam is only a primary stage, you should only need to foam the car once the snowfoam will get rid of the worse of it by soaking then dripping off the dirt and then wash with the mitt.
My regular wash technique squirt the wheels with some wheel cleaner, foam the car, let them sit for five minutes then jet the wheels then the car moving back and forth from the bottom of the car working my way up. This way you get to uses of the foam for the price of one.
Foams themselves I have mix and matched but the best seems to be if the car has a good wax on it and you can use hot water through the pressure washer. Unfortunately a hot water pressure washer is a real luxury for most of us.

Hi Tango,
Looking into getting a polishing machine to get rid of swirls, improved finish over hand application, quicker etc etc.
What machine would you recommend?
P.s. Never used a machine before.
Cheers

In a nutshell, I wouldn't. Get someone else to do it. You are starting on a very slippery and expensive slope.
If I haven't managed to put you off yet then i'd go for this Its pretty safe and easy to use and you will have enough power out of it to get the job done. You will also need two pads of each, a cutting, a polishing and a glazing. You will also need polishing compounds. I'd go for Poorboys SSR2.5 for cutting/polishing and 2.0 for finishing.

Cheers Tangoman,
I've tried the hand application route of (bare with me)
Clay Bar all over
x2 Coats of Super resin
x4 Coats of Ultra Deep Shine
x4 Coats of Megs Gold Class Liquid Wax
The finish is ok, but i feel i'd get more with a machine & some specialist products, than i would by hand with any products.
Correct ?
I'll take a look into the megs polisher cheers ;-)

machine polishing will remove defects in the paint where as resin polished will hide them. Machine is best although very time consuming. I spent over 30 hours working on one car.

swirly black car... this is what i normally use - any advice ? or alternative products ? oh and pad help!
i use a PC Ive tried DACP and speed glaze but found Menzerna PO85RD 3.02 much easier to work , i could not get swirls out with DACP on the orange / yellow pad, the thing i always get confused with is which 'pads' to use, i also find the 4" pads much easier to work than the 6" ones. as a rough idea this what i was planning on doing , i did this when i bought the car and was very impressed with the results - 9 months on its time to give it the full treatment again so would like to improve.. i always damp down the pads and now ive got the hang of how much ' product ' to use ( few pea sized blobs per panel when i started i used far far to much !! ) i do get good results - though it does take a long time to get rid of all swirls,
also given the current ' weather ' and how cold it is does this matter ?
Wash - megs car shampoo - i also add a capful of cheapy polish as i find it helps
Clay bar - with bucket of soapy water
wash again then :
Clean wheels with virisol
Menzerna PO85RD 3.02 - apply by machine with orange or yellow pad
then use Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze apply by machine with Blue pad
Chemical Guys Blitz Sealant apply by machine with blue pad
p21 wax by hand
dress plastic/hood with 303
leather seats - warm damp towel and leather cream,
