Arch Rust...

Keen or not it may be your only option.I think an American guy grafted on some Civic rear arches the finished job looks really good but I think it was quite a lot of work.Im thinking of having them fitted to mine as it gives extra room for dodgy offset wheels.

I bought the whole rear quarter from a right off when I had mine done. The body shop cut out the wheel arch section including the inner arch from my car and welded in the section from the donor panel. I can't remember how much I paid but it was in the region of £400 for one side, based on leaving the car with them for a few weeks so they could use it as a fill in job when they were quiet. If the rust is really bad and goes all the way round the arch then imho this is the best option.
Before doing this, I tried a couple of classic car restoration places, both offered to make a section from scratch but for one side they were looking at around £1k, having said that it was so rusty that the whole wheel arch lip had crumbled away along with some of the inner arch.
That was two years ago and there is now a very small paint bubble at the rear of the arch again, the same coming through on the other side. I'm planning on getting about a two inch square bit of metal cut out on each side and new pieces welded in. Quotes for this are around £250 per side.
