Yeah - that was the only down side, my car was registered with them and had 5 miles on the clock. But really, who gives a shit. Its very common nowadays - I sold it as one owner, no one had a problem with that when I explained it. I think you'd have to be incredibly anal to care that a car was pre-registered and had sub 10 miles on the clock. And if someone like that is looking to buy your car thats probably the most minor issue they will find.......

Thanks all.

I did try Bob Gerard - spoke to a nice bloke called Martin Johnson but he's confirmed that they wont be getting the spec I want in until at least October.

Motorpoint have the car I want in now but your comments have been very helpful and i've just grilled the poor lad there with all those comments.

He's confirmed that the price i'm paying does include road tax, plates, everything. I wont have to pay a penny more than they've quoted me.

The car comes with a full 3 years manufacturers warranty rather than something nasty and aftermarkety, I will be the first registered owner, they can put it on a 57 plate for me ready to pick up in two weeks and its got the normal factory fit alarm etc so it's looking good.

Just got to go and see it this week.

im glad your report back from them is good.

Cant say that id believe the sales man unfortunatley. They will tell up oat to get you in the door. Sorry if that sounds abit pessimistic but i wouldnt trust them.

Another point of concern is that while the car in up for sale in the warehouse/forecourt area people are constantly walking around it trying the door sitting inside. playing with the button like we all do. Remember this place has alot more people in then any main dealer show room.

When i picked up my car from BOB they were still removing the residue from where the protective sticker were placed during transport.

I dealt with martin, lovely well spoken chap.

If you look at their website in the small print - an optional valet and pre sales inspection costs an extra

Good point! I'll ensure that they e-mail me through everything so i've got it in writing - it's a bloody long journey to make for nothing!

There's no way i'd take them up on paint guard etc etc. I want to apply every layer of wax personally!

Now, to put on my serious face and try not to be too optimistic!

Thanks

I bought a BMW off them in 2002. Everything went well for me and I'd buy from them again. Apart from the car being an unreliable POS but that wasn't their fault.

Oddly enough, I think I may have the clearest perspective on this as:

a) I used to deal with Motorpoint through work (I designed their adverts week in week out a few years ago and delt with the management there).

and, b) I bought my S2000 from Bob Gerrard (re: Martin Johnson) in January this year.

IMHO, overall your best bet is with Martin purely on the basis of knowledge, integrity and buying experience.

I wouldn't ever go as far to say that the car, and for that matter the options they offer, at Motorpoint would be better or worse but ask yourself this, would you rather buy from a generic outlet or a specialist? Bob Gerrard's cars are immaculately prepared and remember that should there be anything you're not quite happy with, recourse is only as good as the vendor!

Hope that helps Dawn?

Hi Dawn,

I bought my S2000 from Derby Motorpoint in April, never had a problem with them at all. Very good customer service, phoned me when he said he would. The guy I dealt with wasn't very knowledgable on S2000s, he didn't know there was a GT model available, however, his brother works for Honda UK so he rang him with all the questions I had.
The colour choice I wanted was in the northern branch so they arranged for it to be delivered to the Derby branch, free of charge and even rushed the process so that I could collect the car 3 days later.
Advertised price was

Rachael, thanks for that. I've had a call from Motorpoint this morning and given the guy the lowdown on my experience so far. He's not hesitated and told me to get all the queries in writing on an e-mail to him today and he will confirm everything back to me prior to putting down a deposit.

I've written this to him - it's a bit long winded but before I send it have I missed anything important that you can see?

Dear Nick

Thank you for all your help so far. As explained i
