There was a mobile number in his PM, assume you've tried that already? Hope you paid for insured delivery, I didn't bother.

considering the guy had never done a GB before and had nobody nurture him through it until the last minute, to then be left out of pocket about 300 quid i think it was, is understandable (as to his disappearance)

Everyone has had to start somewhere when they do a group buy.

In the 7 years I been posting on here I have never seen such a badly organised GB.

From my calclulations, he ended up owing everyone a few

So....Shouldn't there be a "How to" guide for those who wish to organise a GB?

Although to be honest - I really don't see how hard it can be.

Common sense, a timetable, good communication and do your homework on what is the real cost of the product.

But if there is a written procedure that is to be followed - it can aid the organiser and the members on knowing exactly where things are in the process.

Is not that difficult, it comes down to good communication, and if you risk collecting money yourself then you need to bear the risk associated with that. When I did the Samco group buy (I had not done one before), I had everyone pay the supplier direct, less risk for me, and no one assuming I was not passing on the real costs

People are always quick to jump in and criticise, how about one of the experienced old hands putting a how to in the FAQ for instance.
The potential gain is for all of us, organiser and buyer.
