Anyone Know What Strut Brace This Is?

The chassis on the S is different to most. It flexes at the bottom, not the top
That's why it takes a Cray to calculate FEA...

I didn't think a genuine Mugen filter would have the big gap in it, like the one in the photo.
Maybe someone had the foam cover off to clean it and not put it back on properly.

top struts are not part of suspension geometry on the S and as such any flex between strut posts has no effect, only one i would think has any benifit is the one
http://www.vtecdirect.com/online/cgi-bin/c...T--ASM-AP100117
as it triangulates the bottom subframe preventing twist

Structurally speaking, an addition of a top strut irrespective of quality of material will only stiffen things up.
However nasty the product, i can't see how it will make your car drive worse. I would just leave it on.

To the OP, I'd leave it where it is or sell for £100 or so - you decide.

I'll tell Honda to retro-remove the strut braces from the EK9 & NSX-Rs then!

Oh, if you think it has no effect, then that's alright then.

if i was being cynical i would say the NSX after years of fine tuning some of it by Senna reached the showroom without a brace so adding one to a type R version could just be marketing, i cant say as i have not looked in detail at the NSX set up, i have looked at the S and cannot see how bracing the top affects movement in the suspension location points, a brace will only prevent the towers from moving inwards or outwards, it will not stop them moving up and down unless they are cross braced.
not trying to piss on anybodies parade here just my thoughts on the issue.

Nick is talking about Civics (EK9, EK4, EG6 etc.) with double wishbone suspension.
Early NSX coupes (NA1), which Senna had input, had the rear strut brace as standard, not just the NSX-R.
NSX targas have even more bracing.
Chris.
