try select registrations or pop on google and type that in it gives you loads, like the ones advertised in NW autotrader!

Good luck and if you find P1NKY or S200OYP (sadly taken) or S200OPL (also sadly taken) then let me know!!!!!

If you want to find out whther the plate has ever been issued try go to:

www.newreg.com

and use their search facility.

If you find it's not been issued then the DVLA advice is correct but only as far as it goes.

What you need to do is given them a reason for putting it in one of their auctions - either the cherished plates auctions or the relatively mundane plates auction.

So, set up a load of email addresses under different names and once a week send the DVLA a message saying you'ld be interested in buying this plate for your husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend/father/mother/cousin/brother/sister etc. You'll get a standard message in reply but they do pay attention to these messages. It's exactly the tactic I used to get them to put the plate I now have in a cherished plate auction.

I spoke to the chap at the DVLA who's in charge of what goes in the auctions, who told me this. I'd phoned to complain that they didn't put any decent NSX plates in and he asked me which particular plate I was interested in. When I told him he dropped me the biggest possible hint that if I waited till the September 2000 auction I might be in luck. He even asked me whether I preferred numbers or letters first. Lo and behold when the list came out for the September 2000 auction there it was and Newreg bid for and bought it on my behalf.

Best of luck!

It could be on retention having been bought but not assigned to a vehicle.

New reg might be able to track the owner down and make them an unmissable offer

The plate must have been issued. It wont show up on anyone's search. But I'm convinced it's not on a registered vehicle now.

I left a mail with newreg.com a couple of months ago expressing my interest in this plate, but I've heard nothing yet.
I've just sent another post saying that I know it's not in use now and I've upped the anti a bit. Wait & see I suppose.

It's probably sat on some car in a scrap heap somewhere.

Fletch

Suggest you phone Newreg up, not just email them. I've always found them very helpful and I've got 4 plates all of which came through them.
