Yes I have the real basic one, was on the car when I got it. I am insured with Direct Line and they do NOT give me any discount

I got one fitted on the Subaru. Directline have cars that they will not insure without a Tracker, if your car is not in that category they will not discount for having one.

They made me fit the medium one (Monitor) - set me back

If mine gets nicked I would rather not have it back, doubt if it would be the same, especially if it was used it a police chase.

I have 'gap' insurance and would rather take another new car.

You may find that a lot of peeps won't want to post what security they have.
You never know what 'scallys' (sp?) are lurking.

A lot of the time thieves nick the car and park it round the corner somewhere and leave it for a couple of days to see if the police come to collect it, and if they don't they know there's no tracker. I think that if all that had happened was someone driving it round the corner, I could cope with getting the car back...

You will *never* get a reduction in premium that will equal the Tracker cost. No way.

Do you use more visible security? I use one of the full steering wheel covering locks that is Thathcham(? sp) rated....... hoping that the crims will nick the unprotected Boxsters, TTs and Mercs parked nearby!
