Default Anyone ever found a way to carry a bike on the S?

I really want to be able to travel with my mountain bike, but the only car I have is the S, so I either try and find some sort of boot mounted rack that can take a bike, sell the S for something with a tad more practicality, or buy a beater that can take the mountain bike (dont really want to spend out on another car at the moment thou).

Anyone found something useable to do this with? im guessing not, and I didnt buy the S for its practicality, but where im moving to shortly means that id have to do a load of road work to get to anywhere nice to mountain bike, and really need to be able to transport my bike about rather than try and ride to suitable spots.

There are certainly options out there which others have used.

Check out Craig Armstrong's signature - I think there's a link there to the carrier he uses. It does the job nicely but, from memory, I think he has had one or two problems with something knocking the paintwork and scuffing it. A search might help.

Bear in mind that sticking the bike high up on the rack and then chasing a 911 along some fast Welsh A roads can cause flexing and a pedal tap-tap-tapping on your lovely boot paintwork... Either remove or cover up your pedals is my advice!

I bought the rack originally from here....

I regularly carried two bikes on the S on that rack btw. You just have to be careful with the pedals - as Craig says the best idea is probably to take them off.

Some have used Saris Bones, but I've still not taken the plunge. Available fairly frequently on ebay and also at your local friendly Halfords
