Just as a point of interest, is this a buzzing around like a BAF trip, or one where you stop to 'smell the roses' and admire the views?
When we drove to the Italian Lakes last month we spent two nights in Grindelwald, in Switzerland, on the way. This is a beautiful location high in the mountains and surrounded by the Monch, Jungfrau and Eiger Peaks, and it is super driving country.
However, the highlight to us was the trip on the Jungfraubahnen. This is the rack railway that goes through the Jungfrau, with stops on the way up to look out of the side of the mountain. The station (Jungfraujoch) at the viewpoint at the top is the highest in Europe at 11,333 feet, and is the location where the spectacular battle was filmed for 'On Her Majety's Service'.
It was expensive, but it was a once in a lifetime experience, and the views are very special. And no! You cant take the car!
