Default Any ideas on a cost effective repair

Can anyone give me some advice on a cost-effective repair?

I have to fix a brake fluid leak (very slight but its got to be fixed before the MOT comes around and besides its taking the paint of the inner wing!). The car is a Nissan Figaro and the leak is coming from the brake proportioning valve fitted to the nearside inner wing.

The complication is that a new valve from Nissan is

Maybe an idea - what material to use though (it will have to resist DOT 4 brake fluid but this is unlikely to be under any pressure I'm guessing)?

Yes it is a breakers and they are going to have a look at a mk1 Micra tomorrow to see if its the same valve - I'm really only in trouble if its not (there aren't that many Figaros about!).

As for the gasket idea, maybe I could clean around the outside of the top cover with some brake cleaner spray and then, when its dry, put some clear epoxy around the edge? That way I wouldn't have to disturb the internal parts of the valve at all. I'm inclined to give that a try if the breakers can't help.

I'm guessing it won't be - I think the top is just a dust cover and the seals inside are leaking slightly letting fluid leak out from under the top.

Only one way to find out anyway (the breakers I've tried have been no help). When it ever stops raining I'm going to try some araldite on it!

You need advice from a brake specialist IMO.

Brake fluid reacts badly to certain adhesives & only brake paste is recommended as a lubricant, for example.

I am not sure if there is a special instant gasket that you can use; there must be something.

What I really need is a new valve but I'm not paying nearly
