Not that I'd advocate that sort of thing......

All rights should be lost the moment they break into your house.
It's impossible to asssess 'reasonable force' under conditions of duress.
Leave the keys where they can find them easily?
That sounds like giving up to me. What an indictment of our time.
What next, leave them outside in the car to make it even easier and totally remove the risk to the owner? Etc, etc.
Don't get me wrong, if I consider the threat too big for me to handle, I'll give them the keys and anything else they want. However, I will for sure ensure I get my revenge some time in the future.
There is an alternative - bombard your MP with letters to demand a change in the law and in the way the police prioritise crime. Laws DO change if enough people kick up a stick.

What we lack here, that they have in the States is a very good Trespass Law.
My father in law owns a several acres of land in Washington State, and has a shotgun which he uses to protect it - an exceptional deterent.

If there's a household that can always be seen putting their car keys in the hallway, and another that seems to take their keys upstairs with them on a night, which one do you think the car thief will pick to steal the car from?

And having got in and grabbed the keys, perhaps they fancy some credit cards, which you may NOT have left downstairs, or your young daughter, which you certainly WON'T have.........
But they're in now.

My scheme is cunning. I never know where I or Mrs XBy leave the keys to our cars. Every time we go out involves a new exploration of nooks and crannies in our house.
Helps prevent theft.
