Have seen that TSB before of the MY2000-1, but there is STILL no mention of it in the MY2002 handbook. Shouldn't be that difficult to amend.

It's interesting how it states that 10w-30 is the oil to use, but there are a vast amount of people on the board whom ignore it.

My dealer said to top up with shell helix (2 litres of which I have now put in over the 6000 miles from new) non-synthetic, which is 15w-40.

He said to bring the car back at 4500 miles when they will change over to fully synthetic as an option - I will have to leave this to the 9000 m service as I have not had time to get the car in.

Due to the difficulty reading the dipstick, I also have the terrible feeling that I have been running the car for a couple of thousand miles with no more than the min level on the dipstick .

No warning lights have ever come on.

Service manager said lack of oil only terminal when no oil on the dipstick at all.

Have I caused some long term damage?

My dealer told me Honda don't fit syncromesh on first gear, and got a mechanic to confirm it!!!! I then went on to explain to them how a gearbox works, and that the last car available in britain without syncro on first was in about 1976!

Trust no one!

I used Mobil 1 from day one and my S2000 burned oil at about a litre every 2000 miles or so. After my service, at Honda Southampton (Derek Warwick) in which they used another fully synthetic it has not burned a drop - nix and nothing.

Trust nobody at a dealer.

Noony.
Actually Fully synthetic would do no harm, you would just have an engine not bedded in as much and one that would likeky to burn more oil but could in all likelihood be more powerful than a fully bedded (tight) engine.

It's amazing how they go from burning more oil than petrol to totally tight overnite.

Mine stopped shortly before the first service.
