Default another hardtop question

Sorry if the answer to this is obvious, but I want to make sure before I go spending money.

I'm looking into getting a hardtop for my MY2000 (early vin). I see there is a difference in fitting kit for the early cars compared to the later ones. I'm looking at buying a hardtop / fitting kit combo and I'm not sure yet what year car it came off.

Can anyone confirm though that the only difference between the fitting kits is the wiring aspect?, and that the actual mounting bracket for the roof are the same.

So I could in theory use whatever fitting kit I like if I'm not fussed about the rear de-mister. I'd never use the heating element as the car is always garaged, so never freezes up
