Will do Bibbs!

What about the MAP sensor? Can I clean it by spraying it with brake or carb cleaner?

Not sure on cleaning it.

The MAP sensor has a tiny tube in which lies the pressure sensing element.

To clean it would mean spraying into the tube. Not sure it will like that.

I stripped one apart recently for a bit of fun.

Last year mine was doing the hunting and stalling at lights.
I sprayed the whole lot with carb leaner, and not had an issue since.

Just in the middle of installing an AEM induction kit and whilst it was all off I cleaned the MAP sensor and throttle body. bloody hell was it dirty! I've got some pics thatI'll post later, just in the middle of installing the AEM!

Right, just got in, finished fitting my AEM version 1 induction kit! First of all, WOW! The noise from that induction kit is amazing, really raw and brash! Much better than the airbox lid off!

Anyway, whilst fiddling on I cleaned the inside of the throttle body and the butterfly flap, to say they were dirty was an understatement. Check out the picture below, this was from cleaning the throttle body and butterfly flap only with carb cleaner!!!!

Below is a pick of my home made cover to shield the CAIK filter from water! Only

My car... my beautiful car!!

Nick - do a search on P1399 it will usually come up with one (or some) of the following

p0300 - random misfire
p0301 - cylinder 1 misfire detected
p0302 - cylinder 2 misfire detected
p0303 - cylinder 3 misfire detected
p0304 - cylinder 4 misfire detected

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?act=S...&highlite=p0300

I had this happen some time ago. Search for the code in the .pdf manual I gave you and it gives the fault diagnosis procedure.

However I would jump straight to injectors. When I had this problem a couple of years ago I got the 'putting' sound and the CEL would come on every couple of 'trips' (not the same as journeys) I managed to fix it by driving the car hard which I think cleared any blockage. Redex and other types of cleaner may actually make the problem worse as it can shift the accumulated crud and make more blockages.

My money would be on getting the injectors sonic cleaned. After doing lots of research on this forum and realising it's a fairly common problem on early cars (though not serious) my hunch is on blocked injectors.

Hope this helps

PS - check you email. I need more info from you.

PM back!

Looks like I may have to get the injectors bench tested!

Nick.
