Default Another battey query.

I may not use my S for 5 or 6 days. In view of the cold weather at the moment, will it be ok to cover the battery with a blanket or would this be a fire risk ?

Geoff.

if the battery is in good nick

then five days, even in the coldest weather, shouldn't present any problems

but forgetting about said blanket might well.....

My car is just over 2 years old and always starts first time but the battery seems a bit iffy since the cold spell started. Someone told me years ago that it helps if the battery is covered with a blanket if the car is left standing for several days; it's supposed to hold it's charge better apparently, so i wondered if there was any truth in this.

dunno

the Omega I have at the moment has a bizarre padded jacket I've not seen the like of before

but if your battery is getting temperamental, I'd change it

otherwise it is going to let you down big style, at a very inconvenient moment, blanket or not

Oh FFS! More snake oil.

Now much heat is gonna be left in the engine bay after five days?

Might as well try rubbing the battery before starting the car.

Mine was flat yesterday BTW. Should've known it was after starting car Saturday. But I forgot to charge it.

lead-acid battery performance drops markedly with the temperature

stock S2000 battery is lightweight in performance if not weight

a week at most in this first sustained period at near zero
