Oh and another thing, the Amuse will not rust but that does not mean it will last forever.

Quote from Amuse:

"If you drive using hard acceleration a lot, the mufflers will last between 2-3 years"

"Normal street driving with occasional high torque driving will make the mufflers last in excess of 6 years"

It's a lot better than Stainless Steel. But with time and continuous thrashing, the baffles (also Titanium) on the inside breakdown. I have only heard of one case in Japan, where the piping support snapped - could have been faulty. But the guy bought another Amuse (updated version) and commented positively.

a Ti exhaust should be a much thinner gauge than stainless....hence the weight saving.,

Shedding 18kgs is not due to just a thinner gauge - I am sure the material plays a large part in it too.

But why would anyone want to make their lovely S2000 look like the cheaper of the two models of Audi TT?

single pipes look lame on a car designed for dual

The TT with a single pipe is akin to a bloke that can't get 'it up'

AB...sorry I was confusing in what I posted,

the gauge is less because the material is stronger so you don't need as much for equivalent effect.....but you are right that the density is also less, so it gives a combined effect of about 3 times the weight saving for equivalent strength performance.
