Default Amuse Boy Vs Evo7 Vs E46 M3 Conv

Wow - what a great night Saturday was. Crusing the streets of London, ripping through the Picadilly Tunnel and playing to the crowds outside the Trocadero Centre...

Okay, so I had to get this over with. A monster Evo7 FQ 300 Vs Amuse boy. 310bhp +300ft lbs of torque. I don't think I would have much luck at taking ths monster off the line so we both decided to go from a roll (less chance of human error). Roof up + passenger rolling in first at 30mph, side by side, the EVO exhaust roaring on my right, heart pounding, we're off. I honestly thought I would be destroyed but hang on a minute...I was hanging in there. We both were side by side up to 60, me closing in ever so slightly with his every shift, the 2000rpm comes in handy! But then he started to ease away... we shut down at 85-90 kph with my front bumper at his rear quarter panel. Not too bad. I think the Mugen CAI really helped. The car felt so damn different from when I first drove it with the CAI, much more agressive and I could feel the car pull really hard from 3000 upwards!

E46 M3 - didn't get to do a proper run with this but I think results would be similar to that of the EVO 7 - they both went at it and were neck and neck up to about 120kph and then the M3 starts pulling really hard. We did a few quick bursts of acceleration - pretty much even.

A point to remember though is that I had to be in my power range or else I would have been mince meat. My mates were very shocked that a 240bhp roadster could keep pace with a 310bhp EVO and a 343bhp M3!

I love my baby! She done me proud!

Note: The Mugen CAI is an awesome bit of kit. I think the ECU needed time to learn the changes. The car pulls more smoothly and quickly through the rev range and the engine note is more burbly. Love it.

Apologies to the Silverstone S2000. Near the car parking behind Picadilly Circus - Evo, M3 and my S whizzing past at silly speeds. Quite a noise! The poor silverstone pulled over in fright!!!

I thought from the thread title that he'd been polishing all weekend!

it just shows that once you get down to our level of performance you really need a massive difference to make any distance.

I remember racing a Ferrari 355 in my 160 Elise...upto 90 he just could not get away from me...luckily the roads meant that we could not go much faster and there was lots of roundabouts but I was all over his arse.

Out of interest - has anyone ever had a friendly tussle and actually been destroyed...and if so by what?

Interesting that a VX turbo was that much quicker....was it maybe him catching you out of VTEC? I don't think that a VX turbo is quicker than a FQ300 (maybe it is ??)

Was it a drag race or back roads??

In the early days I was destroyed by an 16V Escort off the lights...I was still running in.

Derek - no polishing for me this weekend - just loads and loads of VTEC!

BW - Black is most definitely the fastest colour - a point proven this weekend - I still feel really guilty about the silverstone pulling over.
