alpine HU with ipod connector

A "positive" press or tap if you will, is fine. A brief tap is not so good. I can still change the volume by one notch at a time with ease.

I have one with the "scroll" bar which I must admit is a complete waste of time. Its absolutely impossible to browse the iPod sitting at the traffic lights let alone driving!

As others have said clever use of playlists are your best bet. Or unplug the ipod find the track you are looking for and plug it back in again

I've had no problems with the dash interface as yet, although the ipod does lock up occasionally (needing reset) which never happens while attached to any other devices.
