Default alpine HU with ipod connector

I know there are loads of ICE threads but does anyone actually have an alpine HU with remote controls adapter and ipod connector and is it any good?

I remember seeing one posted up a while ago and the iPod was in the centre console but I'm sorry but I can't remember for the life of me who had it.

Tried a search at all?

i do and its great, charges the ipod and the head unit displays the track and artist etc. Well worth it! There are a couple of small down sides though, the dash controls are well know for having a mind of their own once in a while and the volume up seems to very occasionally switch to radio and scrolling through the playlists is a lot slower than on the ipod.

Its not speed sensitive on the head unit so to work your way through a very large number of play lists takes some time! The new head units with that bar thing may help I'm not sure. You can if you can't wait, unplug the ipod use the scroll wheel to find the playlist you want nice and fast and plug it back in to over come the problem.

I got that set up too. The dash controls are well worth it. But don't try and tap them or it will do wierd things as described above, otherwise I have no problems with it: 3 months without doing what I didn't want it to do now I figured that out.

As for the ipod. The charging is great as is being able to see track names and stuff, but navigation on my unit (see my sig) is not brilliant. But intelligent use of playlists and/or passenger helps a lot.

The Alpine iPod interface is the don, get it!

Got mine linked into the Alpine 1-DIN navigation HU and accessing the playlists has eluded me so far!

My preferred method to put the volume up or down is by a series of taps so I can control it, rather than holding the button down and risking turning the volume sky high.

The Alpine interface doesn't like the tap method.
