Alignment V2
Ok, due to a misunderstanding (total RR toe-in 0deg30', NOT per wheel!) I sat and waited whilst they did the whole lot again! The poor chap was not a happy bunny.
The front castor is less than I would have liked (5deg58') but it makes a good comparison: slight straight-ahead play, life to the wheel, but little feel change according to tyre load. What it DOES mean is the artificiality is dialled out of the steering, as well as that "rubbery" quality and it's lighter, of course.
The rear end is remarkably similar, except having no steering wheel, it's all seat of pants. My beloved adjustability is back, the car feels lighter, faster and more alive.
Instead of squealiness, the front runs wide as the tyres start to sing. Lifting and reapplying gets the rears started, and the car flicks round tighter corners, or does beautiful four wheel drifts round 90 mph bends. It feels like a great big Kart once more.
I obviously am confused by steering feel, maybe the lack of it makes one more attuned to slip angles, or just more foolhardy, I dunno.
All I know is the 01 settings work for me, and I can recommend the reduced rear toe in. I cannot see why it would not work with more front castor, for those that like it.
Anyway, thanks to:
Turtle for his guidance,
SNAPPER for starting the original thread,
NWHL for their indulgence,
The Ancient Britains and the Romans for the B507,
Honda for the S2000,
My manager.....Oh FFS shut up!
