Alarm sounds repeatedly following battery reconnection
I disconnected the battery by the recommended method with alarm disabled and doors open etc. but when I reconnected it the alarm was activated and sounds off repeatedly at several second intervals. I have to remove neutral cable from the battery to stop it.
Is there a proceedure to reset the system? the car is a MY05
Thanks in advance

Usually this happens when the battery is dead, do you have an indicator on the top telling you if the battery is good or not? Try charging it first, might save you a pricey rip off from the dealer.

For future info. ( a bit long winded)
I reconnected the battery and left the siren sounding (no immediate neighbours) I tried fob, keys etc. nothing worked then after a while the siren stopped and all was rosy.
I took it to Honda for a new battery anyway and informed the mech what happens when the battery is disconnected! No problem says he but when he connected the new battery the siren went off as before. He did a diagnostic check and all was ok with the electrics and immobiliser. I then advised him to leave the siren sounding as I had done and eventually it stopped, as before!
The Honda mechs conclusion is that the siren has its own battery back up which includes a capacitor. If the siren batteries are dead and power is disconnected then reconnected from the main battery the siren thinks it has been tampered with and sounds off. But when the siren capacitor has gained enough power from the main battery it resets the siren and shuts it off!
Either a new siren or leave the battery alone!

Sometimes if you have the key in the ignition, fully clockwise to the ignition position when you reconnect the battery the ecu / immobiliser will straight away send a 'safe' signal to the alarm.
Best do it with the drivers door open though, in case some jigginess happens with the central locking!
