Default Alarm sensors working?

Hi all,

I am relatively a new owner of an s2000 and since ownership I have found this site to be a god send so much experience and knowledge all in one place.

I do however have an issue that I have not been able to find using the search on the forum.

I have a 2002 s2000 with a honda cat 1 alarm system fitted and my issue lies with the 2 ultrasonic (i think) sensors mounted near the windowscreen. When I activate my alarm it will work fine if I open a door or the boot without disarming it, the alarm will scream away. However I dont think the sensors work at all if I leave a window open I am able to reach in and out the car and wave my hands right in front of them and no alarm!!! I can even actiavte the alarm and stay inside the car and no matter what i do can not set it off until i open the door.

I am aware a 2nd click on the key fob will deactivate the alarm sensors but i am not doing this for some reason mine are either broken or deactivated all the time.

Does anybody have this issue or any experience, reccommendations on tests etc??

Surely if u leave a window open and reach in the car the alarm should cry out loud???? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestions mark.

I had spare time today so I took the seat out and had a little look under the carpet and to my surprise the sensors are actually connected I was hoping to find them disconnected at least then that would have explained it and i could have just reconnected them.

At thei moment the 2 sensors just dont seem to do anything I am unable to get then to activate the alarm no matter what i try.

I am a little worried such a nice car has no interior security at the moment.

Any more suggestions????

It may have to be a trip down the dealers ( I just hate being without the beast lol)

Are the interior sensors not timed to activate a given period after the alarm is initially armed? I thought they were?

I know mine don't work immediately but I have set the alarm off via the interior sensore before...

There's a "settle-down" time, but its less than a minute. I don't think mine work either

well I have left the car for over an hour and then gone back and tried to activate it via the sensors with no joy so its not that..

Its not much of an alarm system if there is no activation of motion inside the interior. I would like the alarm to go off if the window was smashed etc.

May be a trip to the dealers afterall. On the other hand I dont want an alarm system that is too sensitive and always trippin now that would annoy the neighbours, I am in 2 minds whether to have it looked at by honda.

My car is still under warrenty till june..... any opinions?????
