Default Alarm just had a funny five minutes

Hi All,

I just went back to my car MYO5 and and opened the boot by the remote fob and also must have pressed the unlock button while the boot was opening and the alarm started sounding,it would go on for about 30 seconds then switch off then start again, this happened about 10 times. The indicators were not flashing and the alarm was coming from inside the cabin not an external siren. It would not switch off with the fob or by unlocking/locking via the drivers door. After about 10 cycles the indicators flashed 3 times and the system re-set itself and now it's been fine.

I've just looked in the manual to see if i had activated a panic alarm or something but theres nothing in there about that. Did i activate something by mistake or is it starting to play up?

I could start the car whilst the alarm was going off.

I know most people will say just wrip it out and put a decent alarm system in the car but

1- I don't really want to
2-Can't afford it this month

Many thanks

Paul.

Mine does the same, it's when you time the boot shutting as you deactivate the alarm. It confuses it somehow. Pain in the arse to stop it too, lots of button mashing and waiting. Eventually, the indicators flash rapidly, like they should, and you can switch it off.

I did this with the last S2, much button pressing only made it worse, we drove home from the shops with the alarm sounding, left alone it reset and was ok after that. it's the timing of opening the boot and unlocking the doors that sets it off, I was told to unlock the car and open one of the doors before opening the boot, that way the alarm is disabled.
You don't half get funny looks driving a car with flashing lights and the siren sounding, and it's bloody loud inside the car too.

Well in nearly five yrs of owning 2 S's i never knew this.. This forum is great for this kind of info.

Plus it's saved me a few quid getting it looked at.

Thanks.

Mine does the same. Shut the boot, and unlock at the same time or within half a second. Alarm goes off. Only way to stop it is just to LOCK the car again with the remote, and wait for alarm to stop, then unlock again as usual.
no amount of button pressing silences it!
