alarm/immobiliser problems
for the last few months i have had an intermittent problem where the immobiliser doesn't disengage when unlocking the car.
The alarm turns off, ignition comes on but nothing happens when i press the start button. If i go away and leave it for a few minutes it seems to reset itself and start ok.
Has been into dealer 3 times and they have finally come to a conclusion!
they say that there was a problem with the immobiliser wiring on early cars which causes the contacts on the motherboard to stick.
so i need the alarm system to be rewired and a replacement motherboard. all for the princely sum of 320 notes.
has anyone else had this problem, and would it be better to get a non honda alarm?

I had a very similar problem about a year ago...Not too much of a problem if you're at home or work but a real pain in the a$$ if you just popped into a shop for an ice cream...especially when I picked one up for my wife and wanted to get back before it melted!
Honda UK sent someone down to look it over and a similar conclusion was reached and they replaced the alarm mbd. But no sure about the comment that it was only early ones...mines a Feb '03. Got replaced in warranty so not sure on cost.
Good luck.
