"claimed to be better"? Nah I'll stick with OEM thanks for the extra couple of pounds saved. The OEM filter will be transparent to over 300 bhp so there are no power gains to be had (unless you start fitting superchargers etc) without going to long ram design which I wouldn't for resaons previously explained.

Anyone claiming panel filters give more power than oem ones on stock engines better start shouting "yee haar" cos its snake oil time again booooooys!

Now where's my oil filter stopper gone

Is it a myth, or true, that the K&N ones have a little bit of "oil" residue that can pass through and muck up the MAF?
Just that i've read about this before, and held back from buying K&N.

(On a side note about the AEM's, they aren't for me as a full time add-on. For occasional use, they are a right laugh to upset the neighbours in Wigan But i'd prefer my original box with standard filter myself.)

Our cars aren't MAF based, but MAP based, so it's much less of an issue than something sat in the airflow.

The S2000 also doesn't have a panel filter

It's a cone.

It's FACT that muppets over oil them when they clean them - which does feck up the MAF if your car has one ( as MB says ours don't) and any 'filter oil' going past your MAP sensor will be insignificant in quantity compared to the greasy crap that gets sucked around the PCV system.

Alex, why not just get a nice set of slightly bigger rear cans?

@s2k4tony i would do but again for insurance issues, I was extremely lucky to even be able to afford the insurance at my age I figured that a replacement filter wouldnt affect the insurance, like if you just replaced a panel filter on a normal car with an aftermarket one, but as MB said we have a cone anyway but I will look into the Cosworth filter, I forgot about that one. But like I said in the first post, snorkels and induction kits arnt an option for me, my insurance would go even further through the roof

Yes thats correct cone, panel, panel, cone its a paper filter which is transparent to over 300 bhp. So I repeat there are no power gains fitting a high flow filter whatsoever over the OEM one.

Me I'd spend the money on some DS2500 brake pads as you will notice a difference over OEM ones without affecting your insurace

I've a K&N replacement fitted simply cause I got it at the right price, and it doesn't need changed so often, performance isn't noticeably affected.
