Default Air filter replacement

The cone airfilter on my car is due a replacement and I was just going to fit a K& N in the existing airbox for longevity, however I have seen this for the same price as a cone filter,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-S200...7#ht_500wt_858

and wonder if anyone has any experience with this particular item - does it fit well - suitable for purpose or is it case of you get what you pay for...?

I suspect you get what you pay for. Seems either a decent CAI (K&N or similar) or just replace the filter as you say. These cheap alternatives, I suspect are not worth bothering with.

Sticking a K&N cone filter on the end of the CAI pipe might be better.
Being at the front of the bay the pipework shouldn't suffer too much from heatsoak. Maybe.

I've been looking at those on ebay as well and am struggling to decide whether to get one or not. You can take all the claims regarding power and economy with a huge pinch of salt obviously, but with regards to engine bay bling and better noise, how bad can they be for the price? I know everyone says get Mugen or K&N etc., but they cost a lot for what they are, clearly reflecting their development costs. These ebay ones must be a rip off of the design work that the known brands have invested in, but in the end if the product is the same in terms of length, bore, shape etc then there can't possibly be much of a difference between them.

All I can think of is filter quality and the moral issue of a copied product. I don't think the filter can be that bad personally - a new cheap filter is probably no different to an old dirty OEM one
