A bit more heat soak, hence why I only took it off for a tester. Heat is one thing we have plenty of here.

Also gives a constant drone that sounds like a hoover at low revs.

i kepit off for about a month there - love the sound of it - reminded me of my Injen CAI on my old civic type-r

only put it back on when we got some heavy rain.

didn't really notice any difference in performance when i had it off - i have the spoon carbon fibre air intake fitted so that may help with heat-soak even with the cover off.

even with the spoon + airbox cover on the car will still kangaroo occasionally - just one of those things...

Yeah i agree sounds better but it just doesnt seem quite as powerful.

Out of interest anybody does know why the airbox has an internal divider........

I noticed quite a difference with the lid off. The noise is OK but nothing to write home about when you consider how much power you are loosing.

The internal divider is there as a last resort if water gets into the airbox I thing someone once said IIRC

Hmm surely more air would flow in if it was cut away..... very unlikely water is going to get that far really

Some of us have the divider cut away Mind you, the noise gained is bugger all IMO, but I am used to a proper noisy exhaust

Everyone goes on about the loss in power, but I can't say I notice it. (I drive with the cover off all the time now).

I suppose some sort of run against another stock MY02 is required (accepting their will be slight differences in performance due to engine wear etc.), or doing timed runs with and without the cover.

FWIW, I reckon the loss in power is minimal and the improved induction noise more than makes up for it.

Lids off, I say ...
