Air box

I'm all for a bit of extra induction noise, but taking the airbox lid off lost the high pitched V-Tec scream and it just sounded like any other chavved up 'ordinary' car.
Sounds terrible, embaressingly so. And you also get the really annoying whine when at idle, and the loss in performance.
The only "pro" is weight saving.

I'm sure Honda put the air box on there for a good reason. Why go to all that extra cost, effort and weight if its better without it?
There may be better CAI's around but I feel confident in stating that nothing isn't one of them!
I find the FAQ a useful reference source and the search can be good if like any search tool you enter the right parameters. Trying to remember or know the key works or phrases to enter is the trick in my experience.

I think it makes the car sound like a tractor out of VTEC and rarely take it off.
Also in really hot weather you can really feel the difference in performance.

It sound's alright but does sound a bit tractor like, i heard one first hand behind me on a meet.
Can you remember pulling out of that junction on the lakes meet 1 when i was in front of you Neil?

Chaps, I believe Loftust made a polite attempt to help someone, there was no bad tone to it really. Fact is, the search is often a much quicker way to get the answer you need. I always use it before I post on other forums!
But appreciate it needs some getting used to.
But back OT...

My view is we get different people all the time some are not aware of the FAQ and need pointed in its direction, some people are just lazy.
The FAQ isnt the be all and end all but it has quite a bit of useful info for maintence etc.
Its get a bit tedious/annoying when you get a 'what oil to use' thread everyweek.
The search is okay it could be better but it 'just' does the job.
But this is what makes the forum interesting and it would be boring if no asked questions.
Can we put this in the FAQ?
