Have you had your alignment looked at recently?

Chris did it abnout 6 months ago for me. Geo was way out but no problem adjusting. Seized suspension was not an issue.

7 1/2 years and 68K miles...

I had the loose hub nuts too. I'm still not entirely clear about what happened to my clutch last year, but some bracket or other had worked it's way loose. And then there was the dirty injector problems (I wouldn't be suprised if that becomes a much more common fault in time).

I think I need the cam chain tensioner as well, I'm convinced the dampers are a bit knackered, and judging by the way my DIY geo improved the handling no end, mine must have been all over the place.

Mine was six years with 36k on the clock.

Problems were:

Timing chain tensioner needed replaced.

Replaced one rear calliper and had one freed off by the garage due to siezing.

Clicking noise from rear hub which I never got round to sorting.

The car had only done 2k in the two years before I got it and I'm sure that couldn't have helped.

I wouldn't bother buying another low mileage one if I were you. You know your car well and it's mileage is still pretty low. As long as you keep it serviced every year and check the oil regularly I don't see any probs...

Mines 6 years old, and up to 62000 miles now. And only consumables have needed replacing (clutch, tyres, brake pads/disks , light bulbs). Oh and the roof striker plates which wore out and caused the roof to rattle

Do mods count ??
I heard Budgie get as far as ten once - but he then ran out of fingers and couldn't work out how to undo his laces to take his shoes off and count on his toes.

Born 21/12/01, 29.5k miles.
Servicing, tyres (3x front,4xrear), Zymol in spades - nothing else.
1x kerbed rear wheel - both rears replaced thanks to busamav
Dent in sill(self inflicted). Have quote, saving pennies.
Nowt else.
Next year it will be on the market at a bargain price

Feb 2000, 84k miles

Wheels - 3 sets
Roof - starting to look a bit raggy at the corners, but as I don't use it in the wet that doesn't bother me

That's it. It's in for a service next week though, so fingers crossed they don't find anything else.

(I wouldn't call a 5 year old car with 36k "aging" )

Bumper will be coming off soon for a re-spray so will check for rust then.

Mine is garaged every night when at home, so hopefully nothing to worry about.

My last one (MY00) had no real problems other than a new engine at 30,000 miles, another new engine at 30,000.5 miles and a new clutch at 40,000 miles.

oh and new front and rear discs at 45k miles. New front discs again at 50k miles and lots of new tyres and brake pads. I work on the basis that things like calipers don't get the chance to seize if you change the pads on a very regular basis.

Aren't track days great!
