I had a good look at my rear OS2s yesterday and at 11k miles they're looking decidedly shot at! As I'm not happy with the pitting on the front wheels particularly, and knowing that if I get them replaced under warranty, I'm going to have the same problem very soon, I'm seriously looking at replacing the wheels and tyres altogether with aftermarket ones. I'm think I'm going to go to 17" and probably F1 Eagles!

Can one of you technical gurus post the wheel offsets please? Thanks in advance. Also any thoughts on aftermarket wheels you may have considered yourself? Forget the Spoon ones, apart from the price I think they look awful. Any pics, prices would be a big help!

An obvious question probably, but as the stock SO2s were designed specifically for the car I take it they wont be available in 17"? Duh!!

Cedric thats the main reason I wont change my wheels, no special SO2s other than in 16ins, I like the wheels any way but I love the tyres!

Nigel, I love them as well in the dry and I'm happy with them in the wet, contrary to what some people say, but wet and cold is a different matter. As the car is a daily driver, common sense says a more all 'weather tyre' would be sensible. If we had a second car it wouldn't be a problem!

Try here.

Lists the stock offset, plus a lot of the different options. It's Aus2000's IIRC.

The offsets are large - so you'll find very few wheels that won't affect the handling.

Cedric

Bad news about the wheel pitting , it does now seem to be a foregoon (whoops) conclusion ?

I have been wondering what to do about this problem when I get the problem ! , and lo I saw an Excige ( spelling again ) with the black or charcoal colour and I sort of thought about getting the existing wheels refinished when the time comes and possibly in a dark colour , or turned and finnished as per the 2002 spec ?

Ever the optimist

Brian,

Sorry to be a bit dim - but can you explain that bit about affecting handling ? Like Cedric, my wheels are now quite badly pitted (after two winters) and I also was thinking of replacing them with some after-market (bigger) wheels.

My mates Exige (pron- Xeege) had a little "incident" with a bollard on the offside rear wing on the leading edge. Creased the gel-coat. New rear clam shell 3K

Now what with the Exige going through rears every 4K miles it's an expensive motor. All that positive downforce

I didn't realize that there were so few suitable offset sizes.

I just love the look of those Modulos. There aren't any offsets shown for them in Aus 2000s link above. Does this mean they can be bought in various offset sizes? Can they be bought to match the correct offsets for the S2000, (55 front 65 rear) ?
