Sheesh, its hard work this S2000 ownership - but worth it!

The car never came with an alarm and Access Cars Consultants (spits on floor) knocked

Personally I'd go for a security specialist, especially if you're getting a Tracker device fitted as well (could get extra discount on purchase/fit plus insurance reduction).

You might even be able to arrange with them to get an engineer who has fitted to an S2000 before.

Unfortunately, small island syndrome hits badly here as there are NO security specialists and Tracker does not work over here.

On the plus side, there is very little car crime, but I need to have an alarm fitted for insurance purposes. Bugger.

Ben, are there any car security specialists over there ? Either Cobra or Clifford must have an outlet near, I would think.

Would it be a big hassle to plan a day trip over to the mainland ? I would think the alarm would only take a couple of hours to fit if the guy knows what he's doing.

Ben,

If you look at the To The Vehicle Systems Installation Board http://www.vsib.co.uk/ They have a list of approved installers (the best you will get will be a UK installer)

Some blurb from thier site

"Supported by the Home Office, Motor Insurers & 'Thatcham', Security Manufacturers, Vehicle Manufacturers , Vehicle Retailers, Motor Organisations and many others. The VSIB work to ensure that the consumer is provided with a reliable service that meets quality standards"

HTH

Own brand system I think. The 600 offers a lot more including Blackjax (anti-car jackers) though some people (myself included) believe this can actually place you in more danger.

Try seraching for "Blackjax" - there was a good thread on it recently.

Ben, just found the thread, if you're interested :

I guess its questionable if it applies to your low-crime situation, though.
