Default After market wheels that fit properly, reasonably priced and lightweight. Possible?

Hi guys,

Having a hard time finding a nice set of 17" alloy wheels that I would like to fit my Moonrock MY05 S2000.

On my last S2000, the standard 17" wheels were a bit tatty so I had them powder-coated and painted black which looked really great and I obviously had no issues with fitment. This time around the stock wheels are mint with hardly a mark on them so I would rather keep them or sell them on so I fancy getting a set of after market wheels but I am struggling to find anything that is suitable considering the S2000's need to a very high offset.

I also do not want anything heavier then the standard 17" Honda wheels; I am really aware of the affect extra unsprung weight adds to a car.

According to wheel weights the stock Honda S2000 04+ wheels weigh in at:

Front 17x7 = 7.98Kg
Rear 17x8.5 = 9.30Kg

Obviously I know Rays/Volks/Advan do some nice wheels with the correct offset but they are serious money! What is available for a reasonable budget of £500 - £800 for the S2000 that is not that heavy? Would like UK stock too. I have been through the thread on here showing off various wheels on the s2000 and quite a few I liked were only available in Japan and very expensive.

I am after black or dark colour wheels.

Would also consider decent used wheels that I could get refurbished if the price was right

Thanks
Anees

There is one set of Volk CE28 in black on ebay now, you might be lucky to get it under £1000. Perfect size for S2000 as well.

Thanks for the heads up.

I really do like the Volk CE28 but I actually have a set of them on my Evo, so I don't actually want to have the same wheels on my S2000 but I appreciate the input

Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 are quite light IIRC and can be ordered direct with a custom offset.

I was recently looking for the same, I had damaged some Rays and each wheel was £750 each!,

so I went for OZ Alleggerita 17", which are very light, around 6kg for front and 7kg for rear with suitable offsets,

around £1100 depending on the colour.

below is a link for a silver S2000 using them, (not my car..)

Offsets look a bit out though.

The short answer: no.

Only the likes of Mugen, I'm afraid.

You would have thought that someone (Rota?) would have, after all these decades, worked out how to make a lightweight wheel with the correct offset/backset that won't break.

Mind you, I'm disgusted that all these makers of aftermarket tat cannot even get close to the +55 offset used on Civs, Tegs, Ludes, Rexs, STis etc etc.

Glad (well not really) that I am not on my own!

The OZ wheels do look rather nice.

Many aftermaket wheels to me personally do not look right because they stick out too much with the aggressive offsets they have.

Also found these:

But again, pretty heavy compared to standard.
