I'm going to throw a PRM into the mix to consider.

I'll be honest and say I've never heard an AEM but there's no way anything can sound nicer than my PRM. I challenge anyone to prove otherwise.

We need a sound-off so we can stick a proper back to back on youtube....

(Although the ones on youtube don't sound anything like as nice as in real life)
I have to agree with this, also though having never knowingly hearing a V2. I ordered a PRM and Gerry (I think he is the owner of PRM but not sure) was great from start to finish. He provided easy fitting instructions for my year of car, was on hand to answer a couple of stupid questions whilst I was fitting it and the noise it makes puts the biggest smile on my face. He also listed it as a gift for customs purposes which was nice. Not sure how it compares price wise with the AEM but is well worth a look.

Hi all
Thanks for the comments, do they sound simliar to when the airbox is off?
the problem i found with taking the airbox off is it seems to loose power prob due to sucking in hot air not sure?

Looking at images of both thanks to google!

It seems to my knowledge where the AEM V2 is placed to the PRM and AEM is better placed as its out of the way of the Engine heat, surely the PRM will have the same effect of having the airbox lid off by sucking in hot air?

AEM V2

Is this the PRM one your talking about??

That's the one. I haven't noticed any heat soak but have only had it fitted about 3 months or so. Others may be better placed to give you more insight on this.

Seen as those with either the V2 or the PRM are saying it makes a really good sound it is probably a case of going for whichever one you like the idea of the most.

In my experience there is no power loss that I can tell anyway. There is also no gain either, with the exception of the noise. Can't comment on the V2 though, but I'm sure someone else will be able to.

As mentioned previously I own an AEM CAI not a V2 so personally cannot comment on the sound of the V2, I understand the CAI is slightly lounder/more appealing to the ear (due to its side and placing), but i've never heard a V2 in real life!

hydrolock - not really and issue, but better to be safe than sorry.

i've got AEM v2 replica, and i've cut up an old oil bottle to use as a sheild to stop water running over the top the air filter.

old oil bottle, and a few cable ties works well
