aem v2 vs k&n intake
Hi all just wondered if anyone could share there experiences with these 2 intakes. I really want the aem but im worried about sucking up water. Has anyone had any experience with this intake over here. If its a no go my next choice is the k&n but heard they suffer from heat soak. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have had both
AEM is the better of the two. All you have to do with the AEM is buy a grommet to block the bonnet drain hole so that water doesn't fall directly on top of it. I also brought a KN water repellent sock type thing that goes over the filter.
I've had mine on two months or so and everytime i have checked the duckbill drain point on it not a drop of water has come out. Obviously don't drive it through huge puddles but then again my car rarely comes out in the rain.
- KN also makes changing oil filter abit more of a pain in the arse as it restricts room, AEM doesn't do this.
- KN air box type solution isnt perfect and does suck in hot air
- AEM is a fair bit quieter than the KN but then it is shielded in the drivers side wheel well/front wing area.
- AEM doesnt suffer the heat soak compared to the KN. It still gets warm in traffic but as soon as you get moving the inlet temperatures drop down very quickly. Especially this time of year.

I'd love an AEM v2 as they sound deeper when booting it. However, the K&N Gen 2 is much easier to fit (much), sounds superb and the biggest plus for me was you don't have to start cutting your car up to get it in. So I thought I'd start with the K&N Gen and the move onto the AEM v2 at a later date but to be honest I'm more than happy with the K&N Gen 2 and have had it in for the last 5 years.
Oh yeh, never suffered from heat stroke as I avoid city traffic, not that I ever noticed it when I was in the big smoke!
