Wydraz, I think you may fall into the ownership trap here.
You are buying right at the top of your budget.
This is NOT a cheap car to own and run and if you have no contingency you will have major hassle when things go wrong.
And they do, especially on a 100k car.
Good luck with the hunt.

I have made that mistake before and it was horrid watching my pride and joy degrade as I couldn't afford to run it.

With the money I spent last year running the car, I could have bought another one easy. And a decent one at that.

Take that as a warning and a piece of good advice intended in the nicest way possible

Rusty Rear wing will be likely due to a replaced rear wing. Easy to check if you remove a bit of boot trim.

Wydraz,

As above, this is a fantastic car. I don't want to put you off owning one, as I have loved every minute of mine. As Hypersonik says, worrying about not having the money to fix things that go wrong/need doing on a car that you love and cherish is an awful feeling an to be avoided.

TBH, you might get an non-crashed S2000 for that kind of money, but as mentioned above, you will probably need to spend another couple of thousand pounds in the next year or so:

Geo will almost certainly need done

A lot of (old) Hondas are prone to rusting on the rear arches, and once it sets in it spreads like wild fire unless you do something about it. Normally a Honda will rust away before anything mechanical fails.

I have an 86 CRX that has been wax-oiled throughout, but I still have some rust on the o/s rear arch. I treated it two years ago and it hasn't got worse since, so I guess that proves it should be fine if you take care of it.

As long as the car you're looking at has been serviced well then it should be fine. I know a lot of Honda owners with 200k+ on the clock and never have any problems. Just make sure you have a very close look at everything mentioned above so that you're fully aware of any other potential costs.

Thanks all.

I should stress this is going to be a car to use on nice weekends in the summer only, not as an 'everydayer'.

I have checked on insurance and it's not too bad for me, limited to 3000 miles a year.

Cheers,

Dan
