Thumbs up Advice & Opinions please

Hi All,

I am close to buying a black, year 2000 S2000. It has red interior BUT has 100,000 miles on the clock which puts me off..........should it??

I have had many emails between myself and the seller, it is not too far away from me too and he sounds genuine.

He sounds like a good guy in his emails and is sending me scanned versions of the advertised full service history for me to check out.

With a car with such high mileage should I be worried about any specific areas? He assures me the suspension/exhaust are fine. It does need new floor mats, there's a bit of rust on the rear drivers wing. He replaced the rear window in the hood.

Advert states it has:

- Air con,
- 6 CD Changer,
- Electric hood,
- Xenon lights,
- Full red leather seats,
- Cat 1 Alarm & Immobilisor,
- Electric mirrors,
- Electric windows,
- Central locking,
- Alloy wheels (in good condition),
- 4 Toyo tyres done less than 2k miles,
- Brembo Discs and Ferodo pads at last change.
- Serviced within last 1k,
- MOT until Nov 2009,
- Tax until June 2009.

Any advice welcome from those with S2000 experience. What is the max you'd pay for it?

Thanks,

Dan

Thanks,

He said in a past email:

"I never use any less than 5W40 fully synthetic oil as recommended by Honda."

how old is the car?
dealer or private sale?
how long has he owned it?
who carried out the services and when?
does he have all the documentation and old bills?
does he have all of the old MOTs?
accident damage?

at least one of the above will produce a dodgy answer

rust is rare on S2000 bodywork unless it's a repaired area

the engine is on borrowed time at 100K

There are similar age and spec cars listed on the FS section here. they are probably nearer to the price that you are looking at and lower miles. Known users and history

dealer or private sale?

Private seller, 3rd owner.

how long has he owned it?

Will have to check.

Honda I believe and I am told it has a full history, he is scanning the service book in for me to check.

does he have all the documentation and old bills?

He tell me yes, even the original Honda GB map and manual!

does he have all of the old MOTs?

Will check.

accident damage?

He tells me no, may HPI it.

He has told me there's a spot of rust on drivers rear wing.
