Default Adjusting weatherstrip gap on hardtop

Okay,

So the hardtop squeeks. Decided that I'll first make sure to adjust the holder plate bolts (three of them) on each side of the hard-top. I look at them, and I'm confused as to how or where I need to push/pull the hardtop in order to get the bolts in the right place for them to then be tightened, if that makes any sense? The driver side weatherstrip gap is noticably more than the passenger, and both sides constantly squeek when driving; even after fitting new hardtop strikers on. If I can sort this out in the next few hours, then quickly dry the seal the hardtop rests on then grease it with shin-etsu and that should fix it, so any help is appreciated!

you've probably sorted this now but i loosened the 3 topmost bolts the the bracket can move in relation to the hard top...push or pull the hardtop to get the right gap, measure the gap, tighten the bolts, remeasure the gap, readjust, etc, etc till correct...i have mine set at the factory measurement 8mm closed, 14mm open if i remember rightly...still squeaks but only over rough roads and driving onto a kerb when the chassis flexes a bit.

im going to try tighter gaps when i get chance, and regrease all my s**t in the process

haha it only took 30-45mins or so but you do need an extra set of hands to help with removal of the HT

Yep hot one that I've read somewhere on the forum. Loosen the 3 topmost bolts after removing the plastic trims at each side of your hardtop (where it meets the back of your window not the windscreen). You want to loosen them just enough so HT moves freely but no more than you chasing your bolts and nuts on the road! Then drive around and fingers crossed it will fall into place. Re-tighten and test!

Is there a how to thread somewhere around here for this as my hard top is squeaking like a beetch!

Love using the S in winter (now i can tax it monthly) but the hard top squeeking is making journeys tiresome!
