Default Adjusting valve clearances

Has anyone adjusted valve clearances with a comptech SC on???

Difficulty maybe moving the crank pulley even without spark plugs in.

Drop the belt tension?

I never even take the plugs out, you dont need to.
The precise postitioning of the timing marks /cam lobe, isn't that critical.

Normally theres a few degrees either way at least on the bottom of the lobe where the gap doesn't change.

And surely a SC isn't that hard to turn, just put a bigger spanner on the crank pulley!

Problem is access Stev (not much access), however i might be able to access to the crank pulley via the otherside of the crossmember and use a ratchet+extension.

The belt tension is a PITA to get right and actually tighten (me and my mate did it last time).

I thought removing spark plugs would make it easier to turn the crank?

lift up ONE of the back wheels and put the car in a high gear. turning the wheel forward will cycle your cylinders 1,3,4,2

Hope that helps!!

BTW does anyone know where i can get my hands on TSBs and not just the list??

This is indeed what I do and makes like amazingly easy as you can shove whatever bar you like on there

Again, follow the youtube guide and it explains about watching the cam lobes pointing away from the tappets meaning the valve is unloaded and you can set it

Hiya mate

I did it at the weekend with the engine stone cold, i have done clearances many moons ago on a difference car but not on my S. I jacked the rear wheel up/put in high gear and rotated the wheel to start on cylinder one. Bit of PITA as i had to constantly move between the rear and front of the car - doing it with a ratchet under cross member esp with SC on would take for ages trust me.

Thing is when the garage put my crank pulley on, they didn't put it back on with the TDC marks (on pulley) correctly aligned, so i had to eye it with the camshaft pulleys lines with rocker cover off.

Suffice to say the engine was in excellent condition springs/lobes wise and tolerances were bang on if a little lose for my liking, however they were tightened to the lower end of the honda specs as my engine would have possibly increased clearances due to the mileage on it. So i went with 0.008 and 0.010.
