At least you're unharmed though.
I had to drive from London to Middlesbrough (about 280 miles) today in these conditions and I was concerned a similar experience might have occurred.
Glad you're in one piece.

Again thanks for the well wishes...
Thought i'd show you another two pictures, the first is the drivers side, the second
a closer view of the pasenger side. I'd came off the A184 and was about 400 yards
heading southbound on the A19 when it happened....
Phil_gb: From general opinion and my initial thoughts, it probs don't matter where
it goes... it's game over!

A formula was developed in aviation for aircraft aquaplaning on the runway a while back. That formula was 9 x square root of tyre pressure = aquaplane speed.
Now of course other things have to be factored in such as tread depth and tyre footprint, but tyre pressure is more important than you may think.
So if you're inflated to 32 psi that gives an aquaplane speed of 51 mph.
Bit of an eye opener isn't it ?

Slicks vs worn tyres vs s02 vs other tyre with bigger water channels will be way more different than tyre pressure.
TBH the more I think about it the less I think tyre pressure in a car could have to do with aquaplane speed. On an aircraft aren't the tyres rounded on the base like a bike rather than flat like a car? If they are round then pressure makes a huge difference to the contact patch and therefor aquaplane speed.
How exactly could tyre pressure in a car affect aquaplane speed other than a minimal change in footprint ?
Anyway, rant over...
lucky escape mate, I am glad you are safe. The car looks like a write off, I hope the insurance isn't too much of a pain.

Its not good to see a car in that shape. I'm pleased your ok though. Is that a new roof you have on your car????? Just wondering................................(is a swap and cash out of the question?, think of it as I'm paying your excess ).
You get nothing if you don't ask

Very bad luck, Paul - happy you are OK, though. Must have been a big brown trouser moment.
Incidents like this are a big part of the reason I now drive a 4wd Mk5 R32, wimp that I am!
