Default Accelerator stuck under mat

After yesterday's diesel fun, I had another scary experience today. Thank god the beater will be back on the road for tomorrow.

I had this problem on the last meet I did about 6 weeks ago.

Floor the car in 2nd or 3rd, put the clutch in, accelerator stays flat to the floor and engine bounces off the limiter lots

I had my suspicions last time that it was the mat, this time I know it was, because I physically had to pull the mat back whilst the engine was doing it's best to detonate

Everything seems ok with the car.

Is this my cue to get Muz mats, or should I just get a fixing post for my Honda mats? Anyone else had this? Who was selling fixing posts a while back?

I think it was GSi who had a mansize stash of fixing posts he was trying to get rid of (Not sure whether he has already disposed of them all though).

I had fixing posts for my Honda mats and never suffered any problems.

AFAIK, GSi's posts have all gone.

Stick some velcro onto the bottom of the mats and onto the carpet, or jam the mat under the seat rail.

See your PM neil.. I have one post left (that was in my car) which doesn't seem to fit Honda mats.. although I expect they could be persuaded to work together with a little brute force

Me too, also as well likewise.

But the post works far better with a Muz on it.

I had an old beat up pair of cowboy boots (it was the late 80s Guns and Roses were all the rage!)

Anyway after months of continous wear the soles started peeling away at the section just before the ball of the foot.

Ever industrious (and too cheap to get them re soled) I affixed the sole with liberal amounts of superglue, Jumped in my car and headed into glasgow.

Half way there along Kirky road, heading towards the Torrance roundabout I changed down gear and lifted my right foot from the accelerator to the brake

at least I tried to however in my haste the superglue had seeped through the nail holes and had adhered my boot to the pedal.

Now bear in mind I am doing about 60 heading towards a roundabout at this point.

I reach over and brake with my left foot while wriggling to try and free my right foot from the pedal.

Braking with my left foot had all the subtlety of braking with an anchor anyway...
with the car lurching about I manage to get my right foot free and get round the roundabout in nuetral before putting it back in gear and continuing along my merry way.

Welcome to the Jungle!
