Default ABS Speed sensor trouble DTC 11

I inherited an intermittant abs sensor fault on purchase. It might be connected to a front brake pad change the previous owner carried out.
Anyway, the abs dash light would stay on constantly on first start/throughout the drive period. Sometimes on restarting the (now warm car) the abs light would extinguish on its own and would remain off until restarting the next day.
I had the fault code read as DTC:11 - right-front wheel sensor (open/short to body ground/short to power)

I purchased a second hand sensor from the well known auction site, and had it installed after much difficulty ( original one snapped in the hole and had to be prised out) (the replacement wouldnt go close enough to the hub teeth - sanded edges down and now sits as far as it can - teeth are clean).
The abs light remains constantly on, even after a drive and restart. Had the code read again and its the same DTC 11.

Is there anyway I can check whether the replacement used sensor is goosed? before committing to buying a £220 sensor from Honda. ? local auto electrician wants between £80 to £140 to check the wiring?

Thanks
Rash

If it's broken than buy a second hand sensor and just replace it £50.

Think I will invest in a meter and take it from there. . I can atleast try for a replacement if I can prove the one they supplied is duff.
(Dont want to buy another used sensor as im already £70 down inc labour cost to install it)

Replacement used sensor did the trick (first one proved to be a faulty one). You have to ensure the gap between the sensor and the teeth on the hub is between 1.00mm to 0.4mm. (may require extra wd40 and a block of wood to persuade it) If the gap is anything more.. the abs starts to trigger below 5mph.
The abs light should go out on it own - after a short drive. Hope that helps.
