ABS reset needed?
I broke my front left ABS sensor whilst changing the hub and replaced the sensor this weekend. Because I have been driving it with no front left sensor the ABS light has been on
Now I was expecting it to do its normal reset and the light would clear after the first drive, however this hasnt happened.
Do I need to reset the system or anything? Or is it possible the replacement sensor is duff.
Thanks
Simon

It does reset but only after going over 30mph and for 10 seconds, if you've done this then I think your sensor maybe broke and not installed properly.
So no reset as such.

had alot of issues with the same thing the sensors are very brittle and usually crack when you take them out of another hub so usually if the light is on that means your sensor is fecked.

The system 'resets' itself every time the ignition is switched on.
A while back I had one completely fecked sensor and an intermittently fecked sensor. It took a few runs with a dealers diagnostic computer to pinpoint the problematic sensors.

Yeah I broke the sensor removing it and got a second hand one from the US.
Was a pain to fit as it was pretty tight. Will have to check it again and make sure its fully seated, otherwise i'll have to find another i guess and drill the old one out
Thanks

since it might be useful to know in the future, how do you remove the sensors?
i tried to remove a rear one when i was doing a wheel bearing for safety, but the damn thing wouldnt come out.
was i missing something, other than the 10mm bolt or would it of been a case of drilling it out?

The only way to get them out is the remove the bearing so you can knock it out of the hub.
They just sieze in and you can't pry them out without damaging

I broke one when changing my wheel studs,I tried loads of plus gas but it still wouldn't move. When I replaced it I put copaslip on it so that hopefully it will come out in the future.what I ended up doing with the others that wouldn't come out was disconnecting the lead inside the boot and taking the whole lot off.
That is the safest way so as not to break any more, just be careful when doing the bearing.I was thinking of having my hubs powder coated but removing the sensor puts me off doing it.
