Default 91W load rating at the front?

The recommended load rating for the front wheels is 87W. I have been advised by a tyre specialist that I could get away with using a 91W rated tyre at the front.

Anyone using a 91W rated tyre at the front? Is the handling unaffected?

The f1 asyms are 91Y on the front. I'd describe the handling and grip as superb.

I was considering T1Rs but there appears to be a stock shortage of the 87W rated tyre at the moment. They are pushing the 91W which is cheaper but with a stiffer tyre wall

You could get away with it but I wouldnt bother, get the right load rating if you can. Sometimes the XL versions like you mention are slightly cheaper but if you get them to order the correct one in then more than likely you get a newer tyre than one that might have been sitting around for a while.

Bridgestone has stopped making the RE050 MZ for the S2000's 17" wheel.

It has been replaced with RE050. Bridgestone's internal product code for the front tyres (215/45/17 87W) is 78259. If you quote this code this should hopefully ensure that you get the correct front tyres for the S2000.

I telephoned Bridgestone today after receiving a lot of conflicting advice/recommendations from different tyre suppliers in respect of the correct tyre for the S.
