Default The 65,000 mile question.

Anybody else think it is lucky when you glance at the mileometer of your S and it is registering a straight thousand miles?

I always have and it happened to me this morning. I wanted to snap it and my heart was in my mouth in case another digit rolled up before I could find a safe place to stop.

When I got the S it had 12,000 miles on the clock. I have enjoyed every mile of the 53,000 miles that I have driven the car. I was thinking about the happy four years I have had as an S owner and this popped into my head.

It is an ad from those innocent motoring times in the fifties.

Sing these lyrics to it. (I have a history of mangling lyrics. )

This S of mine means happy motoring
This S of mine means happy motoring
This S of mine means happy motoring
Call it the S so fine.

Your S, so extra!

(Sorry, wasn't sure where to post this Mods. )

Here is fine, MQ

My car went through 99,000 miles at Rockingham on Saturday, so stopping for a photo would have been a little inappropriate!

Ever tried calculating roughly how much time you have been sat in the drivers seat during those 53'000 miles?

Scary stuff!

(base it on an average of 40 mph or something)

Never heard of it being lucky, but when I collected my s on Saturday, going down the drive of the previous owner's I noticed mine was on precisely 45,000 which I thought was pretty cool!

When mine ticked over the 99k mile barrier, I reset my odometer - in the hope of getting

odo 99999 trp 999.9

Sadly, I missed the odo by just over a mile!

Now...do I dare try for 99mph, or 9k rpm at the time? LOL

On the last Ricky-Towcester run, mine read 111,111. I wish I'd taken a picture.
