True,

considering for a boxter, their is a certain service that you have to have done by a dealer other wise your warranty in void, all they do is change the oil for a bargin, fantatic, deal of the week

you are really being ripped off with the plugs...platinum plugs are not much, IIRC even the Iridium (NGK / Denso) ones only cost between

More than one million motorists will find their car service bills getting a little cheaper from today as they can choose where to have their car serviced without invalidating their warranties.



Servicing restrictions on new-car warranties have been voluntarily dropped by the motor industry after the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) said it would take action under European Union competition law if it didn't.

Service restrictions have been part of warranty small print for years.

They were widely seen as an industry scam to force customers to pay extra for main dealer servicing which, according to the OFT, typically costs about

As long as you can prove that the correct service operations were carried out and in accordance with the maker's recommendations. Problem is, if you don't pay a dealer (or "bona fide repair agent" [usually the lowest common denominator here is a "VAT registered garage"]) to do the work, how are you going to prove that?

Like I said earlier though, why pay more for parts (I don't intend to ).
